“It” Takes a Village
We asked participants to reflect on their voice or the collective voice within their village for this virtual exhibition.
When approaching this project, we encouraged our participants to consider:
· Who and what makes up your village?
· How are you impacted or influenced by “it”?
· How do you impact and influence your village?
· What is ahead for your village, and where you fit in?
· How do your surroundings (i.e. the environment, the people, and the resources) affect you?
Participants had the opportunity to pay what they wished as a submission fee to the show. We gave a portion of the proceeds to VIBS, a fellow mental health organization in our Long Island community. VIBS provides advocacy, counseling, and education for survivors of intimate partner abuse, sexual violence, child abuse, elder abuse, human trafficking, and veterans with PTSD. We encourage anyone to utilize their services and resources.
